The Czech Association for African Studies is a scholarly organisation for academics, graduates in African Studies and all those with a serious scholarly interest in Africa. The association is formally recognised as a scientific association under Czech law.
CAAS informs its members and wider audiences about developments in African Studies in the Czech Republic and worldwide, publishes the journal Modern Africa and organises conference activity including Viva Africa.
Long-Term Goals
Promote research and teaching of African Studies in the Czech Republic.
Facilitate contacts among scholars in African Studies and related fields in the Czech Republic and abroad.
Represent Czech African Studies in public and international networks and support cooperation with similar organisations.
Popularise research findings in African Studies among the general public and support broader engagement with Africa.

Membership
Membership remains one of the central ways to participate in CAAS. Explore benefits, categories, application and fees through the sections below.
All members of CAAS have the right to take part in meetings of the General Assembly, be informed about the activities of the association, and participate in and contribute to their preparation.
Members may raise suggestions for the improvement of African Studies and take advantage of CAAS publications free of charge or at discounted prices. Regular members additionally have voting rights and may elect and be elected to the governing bodies of the association.
Membership in the Association
Open to anyone who holds a postgraduate degree in African Studies or a related field.
Open to individuals or corporate bodies active in the field of African Studies or supporting it materially.
Available to students or undergraduate degree holders active in African Studies or related cultural promotion.
Awarded to Africanists who have contributed to the development and promotion of the field.
